The Best Season to Get Married in France

Are you considering getting married in France? With its romantic landscapes and charming châteaux, France has long been a dream destination for couples seeking a destination wedding. Your first step to planning should be researching when’s the best month for your wedding day. So, to help you plan, I wanted to give a quick guide to the best time to have a wedding in France. Whether you envision a springtime garden affair or a cozy winter celebration, read on to discover the ideal season for your dream French wedding.

Spring: Blooming Romance

Spring in France is a time of renewal and my favourite season! From March to May, the country comes alive with vibrant colours and fragrant flowers. Imagine exchanging vows amidst a picturesque garden, surrounded by blooming Roses and fields of wild Poppies in Provence. The mild weather and longer daylight hours make spring an ideal time for outdoor ceremonies and receptions. However, keep in mind that popular venues may be in high demand during this season, especially in May, so early booking is essential.

Summer: Basking in the Sun

Summer is the peak wedding season in France. From June to August, the country experiences warm temperatures and long sunny days, creating the perfect backdrop for a dreamy outdoor wedding. Whether you choose a vineyard in Bordeaux, a beachside ceremony on the French Riviera, or a rustic countryside celebration in the Loire Valley, summer offers endless possibilities. However, be prepared for higher costs and crowds, as this is a popular time for both locals and tourists. June & September are particulary busy months for the wedding industry, so make sure to book your key suppliers early such as venue, photographer, wedding DJ and caterer.

Autumn: A Tapestry of Colors

Getting married in France in the Autumn is a magical season, with its golden foliage and crisp air. From September to November, the country transforms into a picturesque tapestry of colors. Imagine saying your vows in a vineyard surrounded by vine leaves turning shades of red and orange, or in a historic castle amidst a forest ablaze with autumn hues. The cooler temperatures and fewer tourists make autumn an excellent choice for an intimate celebration.

Winter: Cozy Elegance

For couples seeking a cozy wedding, winter in France offers a unique charm. From December to February, the country is alive with Christmas markets, twinkling lights, and the dusting of snow. Imagine a candlelit ceremony in a medieval chapel, followed by a reception in a cozy chalet nestled in the French Alps. Winter weddings in France exude elegance and provide an opportunity to create a truly memorable experience for you and your guests. If you are looking to secure the A-list wedding venue in Courchevel, the incredible Cheval Blanc is a fabulous option.

Whether you opt for the blooming romance of spring, the sun-drenched days of summer, the vibrant colors of autumn, or the cozy elegance of winter, France offers a multitude of options. Remember to plan ahead, secure your preferred venue, and work closely with local vendors to ensure a seamless and unforgettable celebration.
