Antibes has always had a special place in my heart. It has that rare kind of beauty that makes everything feel effortless. The Mediterranean stretching out beside you, golden light bouncing off old stone and cobbled streets that invite you to slow down. This honeymoon portrait shoot was exactly that: unhurried, natural and led by the location as much as the couple.

Wendy and Tommy travelled from Canada for their honeymoon and chose Antibes, on the French Riviera, to spend a few days soaking up the sea air and the pace of the South of France. We met in Old Antibes, wandered through the historic streets and followed the coastline, stopping whenever the view asked us to.

If you’re planning a honeymoon on the French Riviera and dreaming of portraits that feel natural, effortless and truly reflective of the two of you, Antibes is a very special place to do it. I may be slightly biased, as I live here, but it really does offer the best of both worlds. The charm of the old town with its cobbled streets, cafés and pastel-coloured shutters, alongside what is, for me, the real magic: those cinematic Mediterranean sea views.
What I love most about Antibes as a location is that nothing needs to be staged or overthought. The setting is so inherently striking that it allows the shoot to unfold slowly and naturally, which is when the most honest photographs always happen.
While Antibes will always have my heart, I love photographing honeymoon sessions throughout the South of France. I’ve shared another favourite honeymoon photo shoot in Saint-Tropez, which offers a completely different rhythm and feel at the chic Château de La Messardière.

We started in Old Antibes by the Picasso Museum just walking, talking and pausing when something caught our eye. From there we followed the coastline, with the sea beside us and the kind of views that make you stop mid-sentence. My favourite sessions are the ones where conversation becomes part of the story. We spoke about working for yourself and what it gives you – flexibility, creativity and freedom. Wendy and Tommy talked about their dream of living in Europe for a few months every year, returning to the rhythm of places like this whenever they can.
That’s what I want these sessions to feel like: not a performance, but a shared moment. A walk you’d take anyway just documented beautifully.

This shoot was photographed on both film and digital. Film brings softness and texture, which is perfect in the French Riviera. Digital lets me capture the movement and the in-between moments as they unfold naturally. Antibes has such a particular quality of light and this mix allowed it to be captured in a way that feels true to the day.

We finished the session in the most Antibes way possible at a café, with coffee and a croissant, watching the world go by. That’s what I hope comes through in these images. Not just the location, though Antibes really is breathtaking but the feeling of being there together, building memories you’ll return to again and again.
