A Guide to the Most Romantic Restaurants in the French Riviera

So you’ve booked a trip of a lifetime to the famous French Riviera and now it’s time to make a plan of the best places to go! I know it can be hard finding the best spots, so I thought I’d share with you a Culinary Journey for Lovers with my favourite romantic restaurants in the French Riviera.

La Chèvre d’Or (Èze)

La Chèvre d'Or restaurant and hotel in Èze

Perched high in the medieval village of Èze, La Chèvre d’Or has the most breathtaking views of the Mediterranean Sea. The Michelin-starred restaurant is synonymous with luxury and romance, boasting a menu that highlights local ingredients and seasonal flavours. Dine on the terrace under the stars, surrounded by gardens of fragrant flowers. The ambiance, combined with exquisite cuisine, makes it a perfect spot for a proposal, a special anniversary or intimate elopement. Eze is one of my favourite villages in the Cote d’Azur for a portrait session.

Le Plongeoir (Nice)

Romantic Restaurants in the French Riviera

Le Plongeoir is not just a restaurant; it’s a destination that captures the essence of the French Riviera. Located on a rocky outcrop, the restaurant boasts panoramic views of the Mediterranean Sea, creating a mesmerising backdrop as the sun sets over the horizon. The combination of the sound of waves crashing against the rocks and the warm glow of candlelight sets an intimate mood that is perfect for romance. Local tip: There’s a fabulous beach spot in Nice called Coco Beach that’s an 8 minute walk from the restaurant, where you can sit on the rocks to enjoy the sunset. It’s also a beautiful location to take photos!

Château de la Messardière (Saint-Tropez)

Château de la Messardière in Saint-Tropez

Château de la Messardière is one of the most breathtaking settings on the French Riviera. A luxury hotel in Saint Tropez with sweeping sea views and perfectly manicured Provençal gardens. If you’re celebrating a honeymoon, anniversary or simply a special moment together, it makes for an extraordinary backdrop for a portrait session. Take a look at this shoot I did at Château de la Messardière with Anna & Nazar, or this gorgeous session with Irina & Logan for a feel of what’s possible.

Le Louis XV – Alain Ducasse à l’Hôtel de Paris (Monaco)

Monaco portrait photographer

A trip to the French Riviera isn’t complete without visiting Monaco. For an opulent dining experience, head to Le Louis XV, where culinary genius Alain Ducasse creates masterpieces that reflect the essence of the French Riviera. The restaurant’s lavish decor, complete with golden accents and intricate chandeliers, sets the stage for a romantic evening. The impeccable service and attention to detail will make you feel like royalty!

La Petite Maison (Nice)

Romantic Restaurants in the French Riviera

Most tourists end up in the town of Nice as this is where the airport is to reach the French Riviera. So, why not book a table at one of the best restaurants in Nice La Petite Maison. The restaurant is known for it’s excellent, real real Mediterranean cuisine. The restaurant is incredibly popular, so make sure to book in advance!

If you’re looking for the perfect setting for your own portrait session in Nice, I’d love to capture it for you. Take a look at this honeymoon shoot with Alexis and Nadar shot entirely on 35mm film, and if you want to explore other locations along the coast, I’ve put together a guide to some of my favourite French Riviera photo shoot locations.
